Shelton Johnson

California Shelton is a poet. He is a musician. He is also an author of a novel (Gloryland), and a key figure in Ken Burns' and Dayton Duncan's signature multi-episode film, The National Parks - America's Best Idea. Shelton has researched and brought to life the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, African-Americans who served in the US military during and after the Civil War, and who became essentially the first rangers to care for several of our western National Parks.
